Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds a second check when you log in: a 6-digit code from an authenticator app on your phone. We strongly recommend it for any account with a balance or cards in the Backpack.
What you need
An authenticator app such as Google Authenticator, Authy, Microsoft Authenticator or 1Password. We don't support SMS codes.
Turning 2FA on
Go to Profile → Security and click Enable next to Two-Factor Authentication.
Scan the QR code with your authenticator app – or click "Trouble scanning? Enter the key instead" and type the key into the app.
Copy that key and keep it somewhere safe (a password manager is ideal). It's the only way to set 2FA up again on a new phone.
Enter the 6-digit code from the app and click Enable 2FA to confirm.
From now on you'll be asked for a code every time you log in. The code is required to get into your account at all, so it protects your Coins, your Backpack and your settings.
Turning 2FA off
Go to Profile → Security, click Disable, enter a current code from your app and confirm with Disable 2FA. If you're switching phones, disable 2FA while you still have the old phone, then enable it again on the new one.
Lost your phone?
There are no backup codes on Packs.com, so please treat the manual key as your backup:
If you saved the manual key: add it to the authenticator app on your new phone and you're back in.
If you didn't: contact [email protected] from the email address on your account. We'll verify your identity and remove 2FA so you can log in and set it up again. Resetting your password on its own will not remove 2FA.
